Workplace Inspections

The practice of inspecting site operations is an essential part of good health and safety management. As part of the overall monitoring process, site safety inspections can be carried out by a visiting health and safety professional from Derwent Safety Centre. We will identify unsafe workplace conditions and unsafe actions of the workforce, help by providing solutions and ensure that standards of health and safety on site are maintained.

Standard practice is for our safety advisor to accompany your manager or supervisor during our tour of the workplace, providing both an opportunity to discuss future planned works and informal training advice. Standards of accident prevention that do not comply with current legislation, approved codes of practice or accepted guidance will be identified and remedial action recommended. An NCR type 'report form' will be completed by the safety advisor before leaving site and copies handed to your manager / supervisor who will confirm on an 'action' portion of the form that any contraventions noted have been corrected. Additional copies of the form may be sent to senior management.

The site inspection would normally include such matters as:

Documentation
Welfare Facilities
Access/Egress
Personal Protective Equipment
Environmental Issues
Scaffolding/Working Platforms

Electricity/Lighting
