General Advice and Support

Derwent Safety Centre offer a service which caters for the legal requirement for employers to "appoint a competent person(s)" to assist in undertaking the measures needed to comply with the requirements and prohibitions imposed by health and safety law. The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations, Approved Code of Practice, states:

"Employers must have access to competent help in applying the provisions of Health and Safety Law... In particular they need competent help in devising and applying protective measures..."

If you are unable to source this competent advice from your employees, Derwent Safety Centre offers the following basic consultancy service for a nominal annual fee:

- Use of Derwent Safety Centre Ltd as your named 'appointed competent person'
- Access to a Chartered Professional Safety and Health Practitioner to assist and advise on effective management procedures and health and safety systems
- Telephone support via enquiries made to our main office
- Quarterly newsletter
- Monthly bulletins and updates via e-mail
- A time allocation of up to two hours (to be spent at our office) to deal with queries that cannot be resolved over the telephone, or assistance in other matters
- A 5% discount on any First Aid equipment or Safety Signs purchased from Derwent Safety Centre Ltd
- Access to back copies and other documentation through the Clients area of our website
- Automatic updating of your company policy (subject to terms)
- Policies and documentation presented in Adobe Acrobat format to enable easy copying and forwarding by electronic media

Having entered into a consultancy agreement with Derwent Safety Centre we will provide you with a Certificate to demonstrate compliance with Health and Safety legislation in your appointment of us as your competent advisors. You can then refer to us when demonstrating to your customers the importance your company places on health and safety matters.
