CONSULTANCY SERVICES

Robert Skinner, Manager Our approach is to provide personalised, practicable and professional health and safety advice and support to suit your needs. Our advisors have both practical and academic experience and are members of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) - ensuring that solutions reflect not only legal compliance and best practice, but are achievable economically.

We can provide a wide range of health and safety services that include preparing health and safety policies, health and safety plans, conducting risk assessments and preparing COSHH Assessments, workplace safety audits, site inspections and accident investigation.

Robert Skinner CMIOSH, RMaPS, is the Managing Director of Derwent Safety Centre Ltd.  He has worked in the construction industry since leaving school and started his health and safety career and consultancy business in 1991.

Robert is a past Chair of the IOSH Consultancy Group, an active member of the Federation of Small Businesses Health and Safety Policy Committee, a member of the British Occupational Hygiene Society, a Registered member of The Association for Project Safety, Vice chair of the Heating and Ventilating Contractors’ Association Midlands Safety Group and a committee member and past Chairman of the Midlands Construction Safety Association.

In addition Robert has joined the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants' Register - OSHCR - the online consultants' register launched in January 2011. All consultants who join the register are bound by their professional body/bodies code of conduct and are committed to providing sensible and proportionate advise. 

In addition Robert is actively involved with the Nottingham Branch of the Lighthouse Club, the national construction industry charity, which raises funds through events to support people working in the Industry and the dependants of people who have died following an accident.
 

TRAINING COURSES

We can deliver our comprehensive range of health and safety courses at your premises and are also able to offer bespoke courses, tailor made to your own requirements. Plant and equipment training is generally conducted at your site or premises, using your own/hired plant and equipment.

Upon successful completion candidates are awarded our certificate and/or permit. Construction Plant Operator Certification can be arranged to the City and Guilds/CITB related NVQ standards.

We are able to supply a broad range of products to assist you manage health and safety in your workplace, such as: statutory posters, inspection registers, safety signs, fall arrest equipment and first aid supplies.

We also supply priced publications and leaflets published by the Health and Safety Executive.
