Health and Safety for Managers and Supervisors

Duration 1 Day
Intended For Supervisory personnel with responsibilities for others (including contractors).
Course Aims To ensure supervisory personnel understand their responsibility in contributing to the effective delivery of safe systems and procedures.
Course Objectives On completion of the course delegates will be able to:


- State the main elements of a safety management system
- Define the active and reactive elements to measure the effectiveness of the safety management system
- State the broad requirements of key Health and Safety Legislation
- Describe the main reporting and recording requirements to support safety management systems

Course Content As follows:


- Accident Prevention and Risk Management Philosophy
- Criminal and Civil Responsibilities and Liabilities
- The Main Requirements of the Following Legislation Applicable to the Management Function: The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999, The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007, Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995
- Documentation - Function and Purpose

Presentation The course content will be introduced via formal presentation and participative training techniques, using visual aids and practical exercises to confirm understanding.
